What is the purpose of certificates?

Certifications are designated credentials earned by an individual to verify their legitimacy and competence to perform a job. Your certification is typically displayed as a document stating that as a professional, you’ve been trained, educated and are prepared to meet a specific set of criteria for your role.

How certificates are generated?

To get a certificate, you must create a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) on your server. This process creates a private key and public key on your server. The CSR data file that you send to the SSL Certificate issuer (called a Certificate Authority or CA) contains the public key.

How SSL works step by step?

SSL Handshake

  1. The client sends a “client hello” message.
  2. The server responds with a “server hello” message.
  3. The client verifies the server’s SSL certificate from CA (Certificate Authority) and authenticates the server.
  4. The client creates a session key, encrypts it with the server’s public key and sends it to the server.

What is SSL full form?

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer and, in short, it’s the standard technology for keeping an internet connection secure and safeguarding any sensitive data that is being sent between two systems, preventing criminals from reading and modifying any information transferred, including potential personal details.
